The instrumental ensemble Studio 6 gathers internationally acclaimed soloists and performers of contemporary composed and improvised music. The ensemble encourages an open dialogue between listening, interpreting and creating in contemporary practices. Ensemble's activities range from Serbian first performances of 20th & 21st century solo and ensemble works, to workshops for composers and improvisers, as well as performances of open and experimental works. Special attention is given to commissioning and creative collaboration on new works, given the modular possibilities of the ensemble's unorthodox instrumentation, and their prowess to improvisation, as well as to multi-disciplinary collaborations.

Performances of works by Svetlana Maraš and Branka Popović have both received special mentions at the European radio festival 'International Rostrum of Composers' (supported by UNESCO). In collaboration with Electronic Studio of Radio Belgrade, and Creative Europe project UMSCENE, they recorded Re-interpretations, and will release it on CD in 2023. The ensemble appeared in a documentary Speak so that I can see you, by Marija Stojnić, which tells a story of the history of Radio Belgrade and its eerie downtown building.

Studio6 actively collaborates with composers, free improvisers, sound artists and visual artists. Ongoing close collaboration with Richard Barrett, on his instrumental cycle 'close-up', lead to a premiere performance in 2016 in Belgrade, and subsequently to a UK tour in 2018. A performance of 'close-up' from Audiograft festival in Oxford was recorded and broadcasted by the BBC Radio3 in May 2018. ('Hear and Now'). The ensemble has also performed the cycle at City University London and Leeds University, and is about to release a CD with a live recording made in 2021, on Divine Art Recordings, UK.
Since 2012, ensemble has collaborated and performed with Heiner Goebbels, Agusti Fernandez, Vinko Globokar, Katalin Ladik, Zsolt Sores, Dave Fennessy, Reinhold Friedl, Jonas Kocher, Hugo Morales and Stevan Kovacs Tickmayer. Studio 6 has commissioned and performed new works by Jug K. Marković, Sonja Mutić, Jasna Veličković, Teodora Stepančić, Svetlana Maraš, Nemanja Radivojević, Branka Popović, Djordje Marković, Vladan Kulišić, Tamara Basarić and Svetozar Nešić.
Studio 6 is dedicated to working with and performing works by women composers and sound artists. So far, they have commissioned pieces from Tamara Basarić, Svetlana Maraš, Sonja Mutić, Branka Popović, Teodora Stepančić., Jasna Veličković. They performed Serbian premieres of works by Milica Djordjević, Pauline Oliveros and Francesca Verunelli, and worked with Katalin Ladik. They performed music by Isidora Žebeljan, internatinally distinguished Serbian composer, as well as Ludmila Frajt, a composer pioneering women’s creativity in music in former Yugoslavia. In 2023, ensemble is planning a programme of works by Ana Gnjatović and Elisabeth Harnik. Collective Studio 6 is one of the partners in the project Gender equality through cultural diversity, dealing with strengthening the position of women cultural workers in Serbia. The two year project (2021-2023) has financial backing from UNESCO’s Diversity Fund and Ministry of Culture in Serbia.
Apart from active involvment in the music of today, the group nurtures a special affinity towards somewhat forgoten Yugoslavian composer, inventor, improviser and ethnomusicologist Ernö Király, whose music is researched and actively performed by the ensemble, often on his originally built instruments, zitherphone and tablophone.
Focusing on its collaborative potential and vision, Studio 6 has paired up with Ensemble Phoenix, Basel for a performance at Swiss music days festival in 2015, and with Ensemble Proton for a performance in Bern in 2017 and performances in Serbia (Novi Sad and Belgrade) in april 2019.
The ensemble has collaborated with visual artists Biljana Djurdjević, Incredible Bob and Rodrigo Roy Cezares.

In 2018, the ensemble has been financially supported by The Ministry of Culture of Serbia, Hinrichsen and Vaughan Williams Foundations for its first UK tour. In 2019, Studio6 was financially supported by Pro Helvetia, SüdKulturFonds, Canton of Bern, City of Biel/Bienne and the Nicati-de Luze Foundation for their Swiss tour, with Jonas Kocher, which realized in 2021.

Umetnički moto ansambla je da kreativno utiče na dijalog između slušanja, izvođenja i stvaranja u umetničkim praksama danas. Ovaj neobični, modularni sastav, posvećen je negovanju zvučnog prostora na razmeđu akustike i elektronike, određenosti i slučaja, notnog zapisa i performativne odluke.
Ansambl je baziran u Srbiji i na domaćoj sceni redovno nastupa u Beogradu, Novom Sadu,Kragujevcu i drugih gradovima širom zemlje.. Vesnici 'nove srpske avangardne scene', kako ih je nazvao internet portal Jazzin.rs, do sada su nastupili na mnogim domaćim i regionalnim festivalima, kao što su Medjunarnodna tribina kompozitora, BEMUS, Ring Ring festival, Izlog suvremenog zvuka. Domaćin prvog nastupa 2012.godine i redovni saradnik ansambla je III Program Radio Beograda i njihova inventivna serija nastupa 'Koncert u Studiu6 Radio Beograda'. U saradnji sa RTS Digital TV kanalom i III Programom Radio Beograda 2014.godine je izdat DVD
sa nastupom Ansambla Studio6 u legendarnoj 'šestici'. U 2020. godini Ansambl će u saradnji sa Elektronskim studijom Radio Beograda snimiti svoj prvi CD.
