Mauricio Kagel -  The Beginnings of Music Theatre

M. Kagel "Sonant"

m. Kagel "Pas de Cinq"

November 2019
Cities: Novi Sad, Pančevo, Beograd
Mauricio Kagel (1931-2008), known for his interest in developing the theatrical aspect in performing contemporary music, was one of the most significant and influential composers of the second half of the twentieth century. The program of this project consisted of solo and chamber works written between 1960 and 1976.
The project emerged as a need to promote the work of this visionary artist in Serbia, where very little of his output has been performed before. The program consisted of solo and chamber works, chosen for their theatrical component. Apart from the standard stage space of the concert hall, this project required several set 'scenes', in which individual compositions were performed.
The project was supported by the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Serbia, as part of concert season of Ensemble Studio 6.

Program:

”Con voce” (1972), for three performers
”Atem” (1970), for solo wind instrument
