International Review of Composers, Belgrade – J.Marković Snake Fiction

Ensemble Studio 6 performed a programme of electroacoustic works which were based on 1970s pieces made in the Electronic Studio at Radio Belgrade. Ludmila Frajt, the first woman who graduated in composition at Belgrade Music Academy, paved the way for many generations of women composers in Serbia and Yugoslavia. Her electronic piece Nokturno, which ensemble re-interpreted together with Reinhold Friedl in 2019. was the starting point of the project. Janez Matičić, Slovenian composer, also made his Fusions at Electronic studio in Belgrade at the similar time, and this piece was also chosen to be included in this programme.

Codex XXI by Richard Barrett was composed especially for the project. It was formed on the basis of recordings that Erno Kiraly made on his own made instrument citraphone. The last piece in the programme was Snake Fiction by Jug Marković(1987) newly commissioned piece which ensemble premiered in 2020. That too took its electronic sounds from the archive of Electronic music studio at Radio Belgrade.

This project was supported by Ministry of Culture and Information, SOKOJ Fund, European project UMSCENE (and their partner Third programme of Radio Belgrade),

2K+ permanent antifestival in Novi Sad, Cultural centre of Vojvodina, Ring Ring festival Belgrade.

In 2023 ensemble will release a CD with live performances of the four works (from Ring Ring festival and International Review of Composers)
