Ensemble Studio6 was very active in 2014 - only its second year in existence! The highlights include a concert series with five thematically differentiated programmes, presented in our three main base cities of Novi Sad, Belgrade and Kragujevac. Moreover, our long term collaboration with Richard Barrett continued with world premieres of 'tendril' and 'pauk', another two segments of a large scale composition 'close-up', whose integral performance is expected in 2016. Our efforts to rescue the legacy of a brilliant Yugoslav composer Ernő Király from oblivion, have continued with the generous help of his family members as well as the small town of Bajót n Hungary, whose officials have loaned us the original instruments, zitherphone and tablophone, built by the late composer. These instruments were used as a part of our live concert/installation 'Intimate rituals' along with Horațiu Rădulescu' s sound icons and a Carpathian wooden horn named tulnic. Another two long term projects that have begun in 2014. are planned to continue over the following years - complete recordings of Franco Donatoni’s works for solo instruments in collaboration with the Radio Belgrade ; as well as the full-length performance of Cornelius Cardew’s “The Great Learning”.
So far, 2015. has brought us performances at a lovely new music festival in Zagreb, Croatia - 'Showroom of contemporary sound', as well as freely improvised collaboration with pianist Agustí Fernández at the 'Ring Ring' festival in May.
In September, Studio6 will be performing at the festival 'Swiss music days', collaborating with Ensemble Phoenix (Basel).
The end of the year will take us to Paris to perform at the Serbian Cultural Centre, which is aptly situated accross the square from the Centre Pompidou!
We will be playing pieces by Vinko Globokar, Ernő Király and the newly commissioned piece by Serbian composer Djordje Marković.
